The terms
in plain words.

This page covers using this website. Work is governed by the agreement for that job, which always takes precedence over anything here.

01 — This website
  • The content here is provided as it is, for information.
  • Nothing on this site is professional advice for your situation.
  • The words, the design and the code are ours. Do not republish them as your own.
  • We may change the site at any time, and the prices shown for a job are always confirmed in writing before work starts.
02 — Doing work together

Every engagement gets a written scope with a fixed price, a list of what is included, and a list of what is not. Nothing is billed that is not in that scope, and anything outside it is quoted before it is started.

You get the code, the documentation and the reasoning. We do not hold anything back to keep you dependent.

03 — What you get, and what we owe

Every deliverable is tested before handover, and the test is documented. If something we built does not do what the scope says, we fix it at no charge.

We do not guarantee a business outcome. A reconciled report does not guarantee a profit, and a search audit does not guarantee a ranking. Nobody can honestly promise either. We do guarantee that the work described in the scope is done and that the numbers can be checked.

04 — Payment
  • Fixed price, agreed in writing before work begins.
  • Larger jobs are staged, with the first stage funded before it starts.
  • Invoices are due on receipt unless the agreement says otherwise.
  • You own the delivered work once it is paid for. Before that, it is ours.

If you cancel a stage after it has started, the work done to that point is payable. We will show what was done.

05 — Liability and law

Our liability for any engagement is limited to the fees paid for that engagement. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss.

These terms and any agreement are governed by the laws of Ontario, Canada, and the courts of Ontario have jurisdiction.
